The Making of Bram Stoker’s Dracula
A special exhibition

The year 2022 marks 125 years since the publication of Bram Stoker’s novel, Dracula, the most famous horror novel in world literature. Dracula would become the best-known screen character in human history – the hero of over 300 movies. And the year 2021 marked 90 years since the premiere of the film Dracula, a classic film, where Béla Lugosi, born in Transylvania, plays the main role. These both reasons were more than enough for the Irish Embassy in Bucharest to organize an exhibition called Bloodlines: From Dublin to Trabnsylvania, the Making of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

The exhibition puts together images with a very different character: historical engravings, documentary manuscripts, but also several photographs taken by the curator of the exhibition, Cătălin D. Constantin, in today’s Transylvania, which seem − although they are not − broken by the passage of time and detached from the imagery of Bram Stoker’s novel. Then, archive photos evoking the atmosphere of Dublin where Bram Stoker lived and places that have had meaning for him, as well as a few frames from well-known screenings of the novel. In other words, this exhibition is a juxtaposition of images, from different times and places.

Just like in the past years, about 100 cat breeds from all over Europe will attend the event.
